Here is a good place to get ya a washboard. You can get uncle Willie's washboards ready to play with wood block and bells and stuff for a cheep price of $85.00 or you can get a plain one for $10 to $15.

That is a great link and seems to be a great company. They have fully embraced the washboard as musical instrument and are having fun with it. Nice to see.

RE: The Columbus Washboard Co.

I got my washboard from Columbus. I think I paid around $25.00 shipping and all. It has a stainless rubboard and the frame is made of some mighty tough teak wood. I'm not sure how good or bad it sounds compared to other boards, I'm not around other washboard players much, but, it sounds pretty good to me. The people at the company were also very nice and good to work with, very prompt on shipping.

I'm expecting my washboard from Columbus any day now. I'm pretty excited about it, but my wife thinks I've gone and lost my mind. (She's thought that before.)

Peace and love,
Paddy

RE: The Columbus Washboard Co.

I'm a poor washboard player so I've always been grateful that someone else has been willing to do it. Jo Price, of Hokum, and Geoff Smith, of the Ugly Mug Jug Band (also the Hot Pot Belly Band) deserve mention here: both great, in their completely different ways.
